Feed the Birds

A preview of Consider Birds.

Welcome to my home at Shaw Ranch

on the prairie of western South Dakota.

It's an honor to share my love for birds and my journey

of trading in anxiety for peace of mind.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

HELLO!  A lil' prayer for you . . .

As praying people of faith, we still journey through this broken world.

Trading anxiety in to God for peace of mind is a regular practice for me as I encounter new challenges in life. Instead of shaming myself for having to do it again and again, I now accept that it is something that draws and keeps me close under the loving care of His wings.

TAKE CARE OF YOU

This class is an enrichment for your life,

not a treatment for migraines, anxiety, or depression.

If you have serious conditions, please seek professional care.

In addition to daily practices, I receive care from a chiropractor, a physical therapist, my medical care giver, and a nutritionist.

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of self-care and getting professional care.

Be aggressive for your own health: mental, emotional, physical, spiritual.

Press on until you find solutions that are best and right for you.

Each person's care looks different.  But seek and seek.

You are worth it.  People love you.

~ FEEDING BIRDS ~

Learn about types of seed and types of feeders.

Also meet Toby the ranch beagle.

He will make regular appearances throughout the class.

Sometimes sleeping at my feet.

Sometimes trotting by in the background of videos.

Most of the time braying and bugling

hot on the trail of a rabbit or barking at a visitor.

FEEDING BIRDS PART 1

FEEDING BIRDS PART 2

Bird Feeding Review:

*Black Sunflower Seed attracts most birds. No waste.

*Nailed down feeder is better than hanging so seed doesn't spill.

*Nyjer seed attracts gold finches and house finches;

larger, messy birds can't fit their beaks in the feeder.

*Less expensive seed often has filler that the birds don't eat.

*Suet doesn't spill and is loved by most birds, but especially

woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, and orioles.

*Orioles love oranges.

QUESTIONS & CONCERNS

How and when do I join?

Consider Birds is currently available upon enrollment. Enroll here:

What if I'm not an artist?

Not a problem!  The activities include art projects, writing in a journal, making a bird life list, writing prayers, scrapbook type journaling, simple gratitude practices, feeding and photographing birds.  Consider this like a cookbook in which you pick and choose the activities that you complete.  Also, it's more about the process, the words, and what happens within you than it is about creating a work of art, although that can be fun too!

I am too busy right now.

That's ok.  Class is completely self-paced. You don't have to keep up.  You can take all year to enjoy the material. It will be available to you. You can start at any time.

What if I don't have all of the art supplies?

I encourage you to watch the videos and decide which projects you'd like to do. You may already have alternative supplies that you could use.  You don't have to use the exact supplies that I use either. Make it your own.  Again, consider this like a cookbook. It is a resource for you to pull from when you need to or are ready. More information about supplies here:  SUPPLIES
