Beautiful Things Trailer

There are places and seasons in life that require intentional searching

to discover beautiful things. Sometimes

when a person must hunt,

the treasure is

all the more beautifully meaningful because of the hunt.

Sometimes

the miracle is that

the sacred and beautiful have been right in our midst the entire time...

 This is an online class

that won't keep you indoors

glued to you screen,

but will take you outside

this summer

to explore the beautiful things

in your humble space...

{Another} Beautiful Things Trailer

This online creative living class

will be all about

treasure hunting,

opening the eyes of the heart,

and growing faith

through challenging seasons.

We will be creating simple keepsakes reminding us

that there is a time and purpose

for all things.

Each person will

seek out

a special keepsake box

from home,

perhaps a flea market, yard sale, junk fair, or antique shop,

to fill with

beautiful things

from your

life's humble place

Perhaps these

are the greatest lessons

the prairie has taught me:

to see, really see,

the beauty in humble places.

It has taught me to be a seeker,

to let my breath be taken away

by everyday miracles,

to savor small moments

of joyful silence,

to let my roots grow deep

and be nourished...

These are things I hope to share

with you.

To be a seeker of

sacred beauty

in your

everyday, ordinary life

and fill your heart with

gratitude.

Maybe you don't

have prairie flowers,

but you have

spruce trees

and

pine cones

or sea glass

and driftwood

or

unique architecture,

brick patterns,

and city lights

to savor.

Wherever you are

we will create a perspective of abundance

by

celebrating these:

Supplies:

Some supplies will be gathered

as part of the process

of the class.

However,

you can get started with these things:

*wax paper

*glue sticks

*washi tape

*Mod Podge (matte)

*Liquitex Matte Medium (4 or 8 oz.)

*sponge brushes

*scrapbook papers & ephemera

*old books that you can tear pages from

(old dictionary or hymnals are great)

*Sculpey clay, white (8 oz. brick)

*small tacks or nails (1/2 inch)

*20 gauge wire

*baubles of some sort like beads & old buttons

(I always cut beads and buttons from old clothing)

*tablet of cold press watercolor paper 140 lb.

*Ink Pad in a shade of brown

{I like Ranger's Distress Ink in Vintage Photo}

*Acrylic Paint

in the following colors:

raw umber (brown)

some form of white like

titanium white,

unbleached titanium

or parchment

and choose 3 of your favorites

{I use a lot of turquoise,

yellow ochre,

and crimson red}

For this class Artist's Loft Academic Level 1 is a good acrylic paint to use.

vintage book pages

with poetry, quotes, and hymns

For our projects,

I will share printable collage sheets in the class as well as quotes like this one from Laura Ingalls Wilder,

"The real things haven't changed.

It is still best to be honest and truthful;

to be happy

with simple pleasures;

and have courage

when things go wrong."
